KAILUA-KONA — Three people arrested after officers searched a Loloa Drive residence are expected in court today for preliminary hearings.

KAILUA-KONA — Three people arrested after officers searched a Loloa Drive residence are expected in court today for preliminary hearings.

The homeowner, David Riehle, as well as Dylan Brehaut and Ashley Safa face several drug offenses after vice officers executed a search warrant at the home where officers reportedly recovered drugs and ammunition, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

All three made appearances in District Court Monday morning before Judge Margaret Masunaga.

During their respective hearings, counsel for each defendant moved to have their respective clients released on supervised release.

The judge, however, granted a motion for a reduction in bail for Brehaut, whose bail was originally set at $20,250. The judge reduced bail to $10,000 without any objection from prosecutors.

Masunaga denied a similar request from Riehle. His bail remains set at $72,250. Safa’s bail is set at $13,000.

All three were listed in custody, according to court records.

They are all expected in court at 9:30 a.m. today for their preliminary hearings.

The arrests came after Area II vice officers served a warrant on the home, where they reportedly recovered marijuana, marijuana concentrate, prescription pills, heroin and ammunition.

Meanwhile, a man arrested in an unrelated case saw his charges committed to Circuit Court and ordered to appear on Aug. 8 after Masunaga found probable cause for the case to move forward.

The suspect, Derek Conway, faces several drug offenses, including promoting a dangerous drug in the second degree.

Conway was arrested after police allegedly found him and another man, Michael Anthony Ventrella, while executing a search warrant at a home on Ala Onaona Street on July 24.

The search reportedly yielded methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, anabolic steroids and three firearms.

The following day, Tuesday, warrants were served on Conway’s vehicle and condominium at the end of Alii Drive. According to police, officers recovered methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine paraphernalia, miscellaneous pills, anabolic steroids and a pistol.

Both men were arrested.

Conway is expected to appear on Aug. 8 in Circuit Court. He remains in custody with no set bail, according to court records.

Ventrella, who faces a slate of drug-related offenses in that case, posted bail after being booked into jail.

Police also served a warrant last week at a home in the Kona Highlands subdivision, prompting the detention of six people who were later released pending investigation.

Police Monday did not respond to an inquiry for an update on that case.
